What is the Difference Between Maintenance & Warranty?
Generac generator maintenance and a warranty, both are important but they’re very different. So, what are the differences between the two? Most generator owners often confuse the terms and don’t understand what separates warranty from maintenance.
Generac Generator Maintenance vs. Generac Generator Warranty
By definition, maintenance is the service performed to maintain your generator and keep it ready for your next power outage. Maintenance includes not only changing the oil, oil filter, and spark plugs on a set schedule, but also making necessary adjustments and more. Hale’s technicians adjust hertz, volts, and gas pressure as needed; and, depending on your maintenance intervals and the age of your generator, they may also adjust your valves and replace your battery or air filter. Our team also looks for other areas of your generator that may need to be lubed or adjusted according to the age, use, and ambient temperatures of your area and season.
Different from maintenance, a warranty is a guarantee and promise from Generac that, during a period of time that your particular warranty is in effect, they will replace parts and provide or reimburse your dealer for travel costs and a certain amount of labor. Whether you select a Standard Warranty or an Extended Warranty, there are certain things that are not covered, such as Replacement Batteries or Fuses, Damage Caused by Extreme Weather, and Damage Caused by Pests or Animals.

Difference Between Warranty and Maintenance
We like to explain the difference between warranty and maintenance in this simple way: maintenance is like changing the oil or filter in your car or getting a tune-up and a warranty is like what your dealership offers with your car in terms of how long aspects of your automobile will be covered.
